I love my mum and will miss her. I missed being able to chat on Mother's Day, but I am thankful for the time we had together. I just wish there had been more time. And I know I am not alone; many of you have also had to say goodbye to your mother too soon.
As I faced my first Mother's Day without mum on the other end of the phone, I was actually drawn to thinking about my "other" mothers who are still here on earth. I have truly been blessed with the emotional and spiritual women that God has placed in my path. I gave thanks for each one of you on Sunday (and every day!). You have stood in the gap with me, leading me to a closer relationship with God by your example, your friendship, and your love. I desire to be like you! To emulate your dedication to your family and your faith. Your love of our Lord has awed me and lit a fire within my own heart to deepen my own relationship with Him.
Some days you have been my strength in dark times, other days you have brought me to my knees in thanksgiving and praise. I know that our paths crossing in this life is not a worldly coincidence but was brought about through divine providence. God knew my mother lived 3,000 miles away and I needed your love and guidance in my life. I am eternally grateful to our loving and generous God who has so richly blessed my life with your friendship and guidance. You have made me a better mother, a better friend, and a better sister in Christ. I vow to do likewise in my turn. I know with the love and guidance of God our Father and all the wonderful women of faith in our community as examples I will continue to grow and one day hope to be that example of loving faith.
I hope that each of you was blessed this Mother's Day. Know that you are loved, honored, and respected. You have led a lost lamb home and have enriched my life with your love and your lives of wonderful Christian example. May you in turn be richly blessed.
